Optimize prestress by voltage measurement

Clear information about assembly of power transducers helped Toscano Línea Electrónica S.L., Spain, using voltage-sensing prestress when assembling ceramics. Based on the efficient support from Noliac Ceramics, Mr. Antonio Sánchez Martínez of Toscano has confidence to work even more closely with Noliac in future.

The company Toscano was founded in Seville, Spain, in 1971 and is specialized in electrical panel boards and industrial automations. Further, the company offers electronic products for water control as well as commercial distribution of international brands.

Quality and innovation

Toscano adds value for customers through competitive, innovative products and services with the highest quality, and they are thus very focused upon the quality of the piezo components purchased at Noliac.

Mr. Martínez thus explains:
- We were already satisfied with the quality of Noliac’s components, but the efficient support in explaining us the use of voltage-sensing prestress gave us even more confidence in Noliac. The method help us a lot assembling out ceramics.

Assembly of power sandwich transducers

  1. The metal parts of the ultrasonic sandwich transducers will be cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaning machine
  2. The assembly of piezoceramic elements into the complete ultrasonic sandwich transducers shall be carried out with the positive (marked) + pole to each other.
  3. Output wires of the ultrasonic sandwich transducers shall be short-circuited and assembled ultrasonic sandwich transducers shalll be inserted into the drying chamber and heated to the temperature 60 +, 5oC for the time of 1 hour.
  4. The preheated ultrasonic sandwich transducers shall be consequently taken out from the drying chamber. Output wires will be connected to the voltmeter with the input resistance minimum 100Mohm with the parallel-connected condenser of the capacity 1-microfarad.
  5. After this step all parts shall be tightened by the center screw. The voltage from the connected voltmeter shall be monitored. This voltage corresponds to the mechanical prestressing of the transducers.

The voltage in volts for the transducers:

Material Per 38/13mm Per 50/20mm
PCM80 13 V 22 V
PCM41 14 V 25 V

Warning:

1. All contact surfaces must be dry, clean and flat
2. The transducers must not spin during the tightening
3. The voltage during the tightening cannot exceed the prescribed value at more than 10%
