Self moving stick slip
At the conference PIEZO2011, Associate Professor Yves Bernard of Université Paris-Sud presented the design and modeling of a self moving stick slip which involved piezo actuators from Noliac.
Conception, control and diagnosis
The self moving stick slip was developed at LGEP within the researching team CoCoDi (Conception, Control and Diagnosis of electromagnetic energy conversion systems). The team works upon three principal topics:
- Non destructive control
- Control and diagnosis of systems
- Computer assisted design of electromagnetic and piezoelectric systems
Some of the piezoelectric actuators developed in the laboratory include:
- Traveling wave linear actuator (applied to micropumping)
- Inchworm actuator (medical applications)
- Inertial drives
- Innovative locomotive approaches (applied to robots)

Multiple degrees of freedom
Associate Professor Yves Bernard explains:
- Our cooperation with Noliac has been excellent, and their piezo is an essential part of the self moving stick slip. It fully corresponds to our wishes and aims for a high quality and well-performing piezo actuator.
- The analytical study and designing procedure of the stick slip actuator have now been validated; this device can be embedded in a more complex motion system with multiple degrees of freedom.
