Strain gauge
Noliac piezo actuators can be fitted with a strain gauge. The gauge provides feedback to ensure linear displacement response and to compensate for creep and hysteresis when the piezo actuator with the strain gauge is integrated within a closed loop. The gauge can be fitted to plate and ring piezo actuators and stacks - and soon to piezo benders.
The Noliac strain gauge standard version for piezo plate actuators (single and stacked) is designed as a half bridge. The strain gauge is very small and can therefore be fitted to actuators with a free surface of 5x5 mm or bigger.

It is possible to equip the strain gauge with external wires. The standard length is 200 mm if no length is specified in the product code. The colour codes of the wires are these:
- U- (green)
- U+ (brown)
- Sign. + (yellow)
- Sign. - (white)
Where:
- U-: is the supply voltage of the strain gauge, which have a positive polarity in DC case or direct phase in AC supply case.
- U+: is the supply voltage of the strain gauge, which have a negative polarity in DC case or opposite phase in AC supply case.
- Sign. +: is the positive signal from the strain gauge.
- Sign. -: is the negative signal from the strain gauge.

There are these different wire options depending on the actuator. Below the table of options, there are tables listing the different possibilities for each actuator type.

Example of product order codes with the wire options:
- NAC2013-S00: one of our plate actuators fitted with a strain gauge but without terminal and wires
- NAC2022-H18-S02: one of our plate stacks (height 18 mm) fitted with a strain gauge with both terminal board and 200 mm teflon wire
- NAC2123-S01: one of our ring actuators fitted with a strain gauge and 50 mm leads but without terminal
- NAC2125-H66-C: one of our ring stacks (height 66 mm) fitted with a strain gauge with a customized solution for terminal and wires

Wires between the bridge and terminals
It is recommended to attach wires with a bend to reduce pulling force from the sensor and to avoid a parasitic measurement due to wire deformation.
